The Delaware & Ulster Railroad is located in the Western Catskills and follows the East Branch of the Delaware River. The railroad traverses the landscape of the old story Rip Van Winkle, with stunning views of the mountains, along with a variety of wildlife including beavers, deer, with Bald Eagles and Blue Herron in the waterways along our railroad.
You should plan on being at our Arkville Station; about 20 – 30 minutes prior to departure.

Our train trips are approximately 45 minutes for excursion trains and 1.5 – 2 hours for dinning experiences.
Yes, we offer group discounts for 20 or more passengers when the group is paying the adult full-fare, and make a prior reservation as a group.

We have parking near our Arkville station and then a larger parking area in the lower field that is about 500 feet from the Arkville Station.
Yes, our trains have restrooms and we also have restrooms at our Arkville Station.
Yes. Service Dogs are accommodated on all trains on the Delaware & Ulster Railroad. While all other dogs are permitted in the open air car seating provided they are on a leash and are taken at the owners liability.
The Delaware & Ulster Railroad requests under New York State law’s governing railroads and public transportation, that passengers refrain from smoking or using other smoking devices for safety and health concerns on our trains, at our stations and platforms. Our trains run on most rainy or early season snowy days! You can check our website or call the Stationmaster at (845) 586 – 3877 for changes to our schedules in the event of stormy weather!
At times, our trains are sold out and we suggest reservations ahead of time, to ensure that you are able to choose the day and time that you want to ride with us.
Our Excursion Train normally has open-air cars that are very popular with seeing the vistas along the way during the Spring – Summer – Autumn seasons. Our Premium Coach, First Class Lounge, and First Class Parlor are air-conditioned.
The Delaware & Ulster Railroad is located at 43510 New York State Route 28, Arkville, New York 12406. Our railroad is approximately 1-hour west of Exit 19 (Kingston) on the New York State Thruway.
Many of our passengers like to enjoy the sights and sounds of the train journey without any direct commentary, but our train crews or staff are always available to answer any questions, and they will point our scenes along the route. Trip guides are available from the station or train crew staff.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
Traveling to Arkville, NY from the New York City direction: Motorists departing from the NYC vicinity should follow NYS Thruway (I-87) north to Exit 19, Kingston, NY At the traffic circle, bear right and follow signs for Route 28 west, towards Pine Hill, NY. On Route 28, proceed 43 miles to Arkville and partake in the visual splendor along the soon-to-be designated Catskill Scenic Highway. When you arrive in the Hamlet of Arkville, the D&U will be on your left. Turn left at the D&U sign and proceed over the tracks to the large parking area.
Traveling to Arkville, NY from the Albany, NY direction:
Follow Interstate 88 west towards Binghamton and take Exit 23 (Schoharie/Central Bridge). Turn left off the exit ramp and follow Route 30 south approximately 50 miles. At this point, the Hanah Country Club Golf Course will be on either side of the road. Near the end of the golf course, you will crest a small hill and see a sign for County Route 38 and Arkville. Take this left and follow CR 38 approximately one mile to the intersection with Route 28. Turn left and proceed about 2/10s of a mile to the D&U on your right. Drive slightly past the depot, turn right at the D&U sign and proceed over the tracks to the large parking area.
Traveling to Arkville, NY from the Binghamton, NY direction:
Follow Interstate 88 east toward Albany and proceed to Exit 14 (Oneonta, NY). Follow signs for Route 28 South towards Delhi. Continue approximately 47 miles on Route 28 (through Delhi, NY and Andes, NY) to Arkville. Once in the hamlet, travel about a half-mile and the D&U will be on your right. Drive slightly past the depot, turn right at the D&U sign and proceed over the tracks to the large parking area.
Traveling to Arkville, NY from points south and NYS Route 17:
Follow Route 17 north to Exit 94 at Roscoe. Follow signs for Route 206 north towards Downsville. At the intersection with Route 30 turn right and follow Route 30 north around the reservoir until the junction of Route 30 and Route 28. Turn right on Route 30/28 (toward Margaretville, NY). Upon reaching Margaretville, continue straight on Route 28 South/East approximately 1.5 miles to Arkville. Once in the hamlet, travel about a half-mile and the D&U will be on your right. Drive slightly past the depot, turn right at the D&U sign and proceed over the tracks to the large parking area.
